One of my favourite things about London are its parks — huge, green areas, surprisingly neat for being nature enclaves, and surprisingly full of wildlife for being so tidy and looked after

From the top of the hill, you can see the Maritime Museum we were next to just a few minutes ago and the Queen’s House, as well as the domes of the Royal Naval College. Behind them, we see skyscrapers of Greenwich and Canary Wharf. On the far left, farther in the back, you can spot skyscrapers of the City of London – the famous square mile area in central London with headquarters of some of the world’s leading companies.

The One Where Mummy Actually Got To Read

The Greatest Showmum

I enjoy visiting local museums and learning a bit of local history, so during a trip to Swindon this week I took Thing 1 and Thing 2 to The Swindon Museum and Art Gallery.

I had checked in advance what time it opened and we arrived just before. It is an old building but there was a ramp up to the front door and the double pushchair fit in through the pillars and the door. As I walked in I saw a sign directing me to where I could leave the pushchair. The museum and gallery are on several floors with no lift access. This is fine for us as The Things like to roam free these days, but it’s not great if you need a pushchair.

Things 1 and 2 were happy to be set free from their pushchair and immediately started walking around the first gallery and having…

As children we spent endless hours trying to build the perfect treehouse before spending further endless hours playing in it, didn’t we? Well there’s a chance to revisit your childhood with an added touch of luxury as Wolds Edge Holidays Lodges have created some turly special tree house lodges – that you can holiday in!

From first impressions the treehouses don’t look to be anything more than lodges that are peeping through the treetops with unbeatable views of the sourdining forrest areas. But once you get closer, and then inside, it really is a different story.

Sitting on the balacony of the treehouses are private hot tubs, finished off with mood and candle lighting so you can enjoy the bubbles well into the night.

Inside the treehouse, you’ll find…

A Day in London

day out, day out in London, Greenwich Park, life, lifestyle, lifestyle blog, lifestyle blogger, london, The Queen’s House, travel, travel blog, travel blogger

Just another day...

I live incredibly close to London. Only 25 mins away on the train so I don’t really go to London at all… apart from to work!

However last week my fellow blogger An Historian About Town came over from Canada to visit the UK and after 4 years we finally met! An Historian About Town was actually key to the beginnings of my blog! She was the first ever person to stumble upon my, what was then brand new, little blog and since then she’s helped me with its growth and allowed me to bounce many ideas off her!

So, back to our day out! AnHistorianAboutTown was desperate to visit The Queen’s House in Greenwich and she was desperate to visit Cath Kidston with me! So after meeting at London Bridge we headed out to Greenwich for a wander!

I’ve never actually been out to Greenwich before and immediately we…

London’s Canals

london canal museum, short reads, travel writing

London By Linda®

The only London museum related to inland waterways, London Canal Museum explores not only how canals came to be built but also teaches about the lives of the workers, the cargoes, horses and how canals work. Situated at King’s Cross, this unique waterways museum is housed in a former ice warehouse built around 1862 for Carlo Gatti, the famous ice cream maker, and features the history of the ice trade and ice cream as well as the canals. Consider adding a guided towpath walk to your visit via a free audio walking guide that starts from Camden Town and guides you to the museum.
